BE MORE THAN A PLACE

TO PASS THROUGH

Pavegen your Destination

A key challenge for the owners, managers and developers of Transport Hubs responsible for curating customer experiences is to make sure it aligns with the expectations and values of visitors.

Whether your transport hub is shiny new and in the process of building a reputation as a place to use and enjoy or retrofitting in order to coax customers to return and linger for a new kind of experience, a demonstrable commitment to sustainability is likely to be key to your success.

The one thing all transport hubs have going for them is sheer footfall. So, what if you could use that footfall both to generate off-grid electricity and to energise your hub about the possibilities of sustainable living?

THE PAVEGEN SOLUTION

Pavegen have created a unique connection to people through the power of a footstep; each step over the tiles can be converted in 2-5 joules of off-grid energy, generating analytics and rewards. Though each individual contribution may seem small, the unique and captivating nature of the tiles makes for an undeniably powerful user experience.

MAKE THE PAVEGEN EXPERIENCE YOUR OWN

Use footsteps to help power a range of applications and join some of the smartest transport hubs in the world who have installed our innovative kinetic technology. With no two projects the same, we ensure your activation is tailored specifically to your individual needs.

DATA SCREENS

Use data screens to showcase the direct impact a passenger’s footsteps can have by relaying energy analytics through a live data screen. As passengers walk over the tiles, their efforts will be conveyed instantaneously, continually updated in real-time. This empowers your passengers by making them part of the sustainable solution.

USB CHARGING

Energy collected from steps can be stored in batteries and used at a later date to help fellow visitors charge their devices. This way, passengers can personally contribute power via their footsteps to benefit the wider community as well as themselves.

LIGHTING

As travellers walk over the tiles, their footsteps can help activate captivating light sequences as they walk to their destination. Lighting formats, colours and sequences can all be tailored to your preferences.

E-INK SCREENS

Use the power of people to get information to your desired audience in a unique way.

As citizens walk across the tiles, their footsteps can trigger and power tailored information displayed on E-Ink screens.

CONNECT THE PHYSICAL TO THE DIGITAL

Pavegen GO is an additional application that can be used to create a community and entice returning customers. The platform has built-in functionality that will make partnering with your retailers to reward visitors not only an additional revenue stream for you, also a more engaging and authentic experience for the visitor.

Once downloaded, the user is encouraged to engage with content in the app to provide you with insights into their values, beliefs, and interests, providing unrivaled knowledge of your customers

ABU DHABI AIRPORT

The first installation of its kind

The Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC) commissioned Pavegen and sustainable infrastructure leaders Masdar City, to construct a 16-square metre energy generating walkway. Visitors’ footsteps are triggering interactive data screens, as well as connecting two terminals in the high-tech airport

Handling around 2 million passengers a month, the first of its kind installation continues to prove a great success within the busy Middle Eastern commercial airport, building on a successful pilot from a previous installation at Heathrow Airport.

KIIN ENERGY, MEXICO CITY

Bringing advertising to life, sustainably

Pavegen partnered with a leading energy consultancy KIIN Energy, with the challenge to bring traditional advertising and messaging to life in a busy Mexico City bus station.

Harnessing the power of commuters, visitors themselves can enable transitions in the advertising display via their footsteps. The Pavegen walkway is also triggering lighting around the installation was well as registering engagement analytics via Siemens’ Mindsphere cloud platform.
